Symbiotic organisms composed of fungi, algae (or cyanobacteria) and other micro-organisms colonise the concrete of Petržalka. They are witnesses - they grow slowly, absorb substances from the air and thus record what happened in Petržalka. They are painters - they glow with a handful of colours and textures on the grey, seemingly barren concrete. They are unassuming and quiet neighbours. But they don't destroy this concrete, they just like its nature. Anchored and resilient, they are slow to survive periods of drought and grow in times of high humidity. They also live off the air. They feed on everything that flies around and falls on them. They coexist inconspicuously with us, but they can teach us a thing or two about cooperation, memory and resilience to change.
The exhibition by [Matej Gavula](https://www.instagram.com/gavulamatej) and Jonáš Gruska was a sequel to the (now sold-out) book of the same name, charting the lichens of the borough. New high-resolution macro photographs, an infinite video loop and a ready-made concrete planter harbouring various lichen species have been prepared for the exhibition for an intimate insight into their world. The book "Petržalka lichens" is available as a book in Petržalka libraries and [online at archive.org](https://archive.org/details/petrzalske-lisajniky).
